Sudden change in management philosophy

I run operations for a Resort for the past 5 years. The HOA hired an outside management company after 1 year but kept me on to run operations for the resort. The resort has done a radical turn in ownership and made numerous changes, not all for the better. I have accomplished whatever they asked of me through all of this while putting in exuberant hours. All of a sudden communications have been difficult with my previous boss and my new boss and I don’t know why. Every little policy of theirs - I am apparently doing everything wrong - even as muchh as not putting scotch tape on an interoffice mailer envelope. I am frustrated to the max and don’t know why this is happening. I have won many awards for the resort as well as individual awards. I would appreciate your input.

You need to have a heart-to-heart with your immediate boss. Here is what you need to get from that conversation:

1. Are you doing anything that is triggering the sudden micro-managing on their part?

2. If you need to make an improvement in some aspect of your job, what would that be?

3. What is the best way to improve or enhance your working relationship with your boss.

4. Let you boss know the best way to work with you in return.

Kitty, it is important to get the feedback on the four questions above before knowing what the next step might be. I would suggest seeking out a private meeting strictly for the purpose of discussing the four points above, as opposed to throwing these questions in at the end of a meeting for another reason. That would dilute the importance of getting this information.
